So....car totaled in April. New car at the end of April. Sideswiped in work parking lot while temp tags still on - $1000 in damages. No note. Then clipped in parking lot at convention center....again, no note. Didn't report because afraid of insurance going up. Dusty and I are outside of the Bronx today on the way home from college orientation, and a dumbass on a crotch rocket actually RUNS INTO my car while we are stopped dead in bumper to bumper traffic trying to get to the GW bridge. He falls onto my car. When I get out (pissed as hell) to see what damage there was (notice I didn't notice his condition initially) I said, I need your insurance info. I pointed to the (small)shoulder, indicating to him to pull over there, he picks up his piece of sh*t toy, and speeds off....IN BETWEEN CARS, because dumbass jamaican-looking crack-addicts with no insurance and police records don't have to wait in traffic and don't have to have INSURANCE OR A LICENSE can do that.
Soooooo once again, probably $1000 worth of damage to my car with less than 4,000 miles on it, but already a lifetime of experience.

Ny again!
Off to NY again, how cool is that?? Dusty and I are going this time - for his orientation for school. I get to spend some time in the city while he's getting "oriented". Should be fun.
Gearing up for the RAL Outdoor Show in a couple of weeks - I'll be there the first weekend with some new originals. The show is on the beautiful grounds of the Rehoboth Art League in Henlopen Acres. If you've never been, go! It's free, it's summertime, there's art!

Sunday again
It's amazing to me how quickly this summer (and every summer, really) is going. Winter just drags it's big old ugly feet, but summer just sprints on by. I've already seen Christmas decorations at Michael's (made me feel homicidal) and back to school commercials. Depressing as hell. My goal is to squeeze out every minute of the remainder of the summer and enjoy it to the hilt. Even IF the crowds in Rehoboth which include hordes of people crossing against lights, hitting my car (twice) without leaving a note, walking 3 and 4 across the sidewalk, and having absolutely no manners (have men given up offering their seats on busses when it is standing room only and women get on?)I will enjoy it despite it all!!!
Last night, Sherry and I moved from our studio at B.A.S.E. to a bigger studio next door. It's just her and I in the space, and we have a nice big front window. It's great!! We can spread out and the visibility is awesome. Hopefully it will pay off (literally) for us. The studios are really something to see. If you're out and about, please stop by. We're in the old Epworth Church on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth.
Here's my fave from Sunday's Post Secret.

In progress
This is the latest in-progress, called "Watching Them".
This is close to being done, but I'm still messing with it. An old beach house turned shop, next to Kennedy Gallery on Wilmington Avenue.
This is complete, but seems kind of incomplete to me. Not a whole lot of detail.
I learned something today. Do not run at dusk in the summer. If my mouth was open, I inhaled bugs through my mouth. If I closed my mouth, I inhaled them through my nose (which was somehow worse.) There was a period of time where I wished it was possible to run without breathing. No such luck. Bleh.

New York, Post Secret and Chicago
Here's my favorite Post Secret for this week.

Got back from NY today. Tina, Charlotte, Hale and I went for an overnighter. Got to have dinner at Ruby Foo's and then saw "Chicago" at the Ambassador Theatre. Great show! Didn't have a lot of time to do much else. We did walk around and saw the Naked Cowboy, the tremendous "TICKETS" line, and watched the girls go into all the shops that we have here at home (Billabong, Levis, Hurley...) There was a cool flea market/vendor type of thing set up on Broadway Sunday morning. Lots of cheap goodies and delicious looking food. The girls were tickled by a nearly nude sunbather who was laying out on a roof slightly below our hotel room. He had on a very small black bikini...and a great tan.

Okay, that was fun.
My niece Amy was here for a few days, followed by a visit from Lorrie. Those two girls make me feel like I'm 75 and ready for a nursing home. We had fun, but wooooooo, Lord, I'm worn out!
Three new paintings should be showing up on the website soon. I'll put them on here too.

Off
Off to find my attitude adjustment with Lorrie. If I can't find it tonight, I'll try again tomorrow....I'm persistent.

Blah.
So, perfect weather, painting's going well, kids are healthy and happy, it's summer....and I feel like....well, like it's mid January and there's nothing to do. Grouchy, unsettled and p*ssed off at the summer traffic. Definitely not me. A supreme attitude adjustment is in order. Just have to find it.

Wow.....this is July?
So I'm guessing we are being rewarded for slogging through all those days of rain this past spring. The weather has been ridiculously perfect! Certainly doesn't feel like a typical Delaware summer. It's soooo nice. I was actually chilly these past two nights.
My niece is on her way down here and is planning on taking me out to Dewey tomorrow night with her and a friend. (Oh Lord.) I have a feeling I'm going to need a taxi and then probably lots of coffee on Sunday morning.

New shows
The Wilmington University show is now hung. My newest, "Delaware Avenue Cottage" is being shown there. So new there are no prints as of yet. There are now prints available of the Blue Moon and Camp Rehoboth, however. The show will be hanging till August 10, in time to move to the RAL Outdoor Show.
Off to studio now to get a few more originals done. Two on the easel now, drying. Stay posted for new photos.

Post Secret
I have a website I love to read every Sunday...postsecret.com. People mail in postcards (anonymously) with their own secret. Some of them are funny, some sick, some painfully poignant. Almost all are thought provoking in some way. You can check out the link on my favorites and add it to your own if you would like to follow it too. There are also books with all these beautiful secrets as well. I have sent in a few but have yet to see them....which is actually a small relief in some ways. There's something catharctic about mailing away a secret...like a postal confession.
Here's one of my faves from today.

Chris Peterson
Um, I think that's his name.
We had a great time at the Lotto Heart thing tonight. Very entertaining. My painting went very quickly, which was nice.
Tina hated rided the Park N Ride, which she kept referring to as the "shoobie bus". I have to admit, it was packed...I've been riding it for a couple of months, and it's just been a few of us on there. Standing room only tonight. She's scarred for life.
Off to bed. Up early for St. Peter's.

Great quote
Saw this at work last night.
"You've got to lighten up because our lives are jokes. My whole idea is that we just have to accept the idea that stuff is going to happen. Life is humiliating and let's just have a good laugh about it. ---- Judy Carter

July Fourth???
WOW, time flies so incredibly fast. I have no idea how it went from Easter to July 4th in the blink of an eye. Amazing. I really should have been journaling, if I'd had the time, in order to be sure that time really did pass.
Tonight is the Camp Rehoboth's LottoHeart weekend. There's a fun-sounding event going on tonight, where they will be giving away 5 x 7 originals by 100 artists chosen to donate to the event. Each ticket holder gets their number pulled at random, at which time they get to choose their favorite (unsigned, anonymous) piece of art...but they only have a certain amount of time to choose or they are chosen FOR.
Tomorrow is St. Peter's Art show in downtown Lewes (on the fourth, yikes). This is always a fantastic show with about 140 fine artists. It's usually hot, but there's great energy and lively crowds. They are offering shuttle service from Shields Elementary, so parking is not an issue. Traffic on Route 1....well, that's a different problem.
So, be careful this holiday weekend. Have fun!
