Crows

Other than Adam-whatever his name is-being very odd in this video, there's some beautiful imagery and great lyrics.

Congratulations Sheridan on your first day of freedom! Love ya!

Fabulous

Looks like we have an amazing weekend of weather coming up! So excited to get out in the yard and do some planting and spread some mulch. May work on laying out a patio as well for a future fire pit/party area. Will get some studio time in as well, getting close to having the lifeguard series complete.

Tomorrow is the RAL Member's Craft show opening from 5-7. Tons of beautiful work by local artisans. The openings are always a lot of fun, check it out if you get a chance.

And congrats to my niece for becoming an RN! Celebratory party for her Saturday. You go girl!

Weird

One of the first comments I frequently hear from people when I say I'm an artist - is something along the lines of "oh...you're one of those weirdo's."  :)  I guess there are some weird artists..... and writers, and directors and musicians, and......accountants. We're all weird in our own way, we just have to find the right people who will compliment our weirdness, and ours theirs.

1. unnatural, preternatural. weird, eerie, unearthly, uncanny refer to that which is mysterious and apparently outside natural law. Weird refers to that which is suggestive of the fateful intervention of supernatural influences in human affairs: the weird adventures of a group lost in the jungle. Eerie refers to that which, by suggesting the ghostly, makes one's flesh creep: an eerie moaning from a deserted house. Unearthly refers to that which seems by its nature to belong to another world: an unearthly light that preceded the storm. Uncanny refers to that which is mysterious because of its apparent defiance of the laws established by experience: an uncanny ability to recall numbers.

Hey, there are worse things, yeah?

Fantastic

I have no idea who this guy is, but he makes great points with this. I've met so many people recently who are up in arms about gay marriage, which completely escapes me.  I don't care who marries whom - (well, incest probably isn't a great idea).

Everyday intimacy

Here's a very cool thing I discovered last week - The Art League's Permanent Collection storage. Temperature controlled little hide-away that stores some great art that spans a 60 year time frame.  It was like finding a treasure chest. Fantastic.

Just getting blocked in. Not sure if I'll end up sticking with the red background. May put in the beach background like the rest of them.
Lorrie and me - fun weekend.  We were looking at the sunshine ceiling. :)

This was this week's favorite Post Secret. There's something to be said for this kind of normal, everday intimacy. "Normal" is probably not the right word, considering there's probably  not many people who are lucky enough to experience it, so maybe the word should be "special."

What a cool mug! Coffee with a smile.

Milton Glaser - creator of the "I love NY" campaign. (He earned nothing from it, what a travesty!) The Art League and the RB Film Society is screening a documentary of Glaser's life/career on Thursday, April 29 at the Inn at Canal Square in Lewes DE. Call the RAL for tickets. 302-227-8408

Spring!

Really feels like spring today. Walking around the Art League, the smell of the flowers blooming everywhere was wonderful. Cherry blossoms, azaleas, daffodils, camelias (don't hold me to the spelling of any of those). A really nice, intoxicating smell. The sun is shining brightly and filtering down between the trees and over the canal. Lovely.

Off to VA to see one of my bff's. Should be a crazy weekend. No art to be made, but will be back on it next week. Strictly fun for a change.  :)

10k

Went well. First female, but there weren't a whole lot of people in the 10k. Regardless, I'm happy, and ready to get into the rest of the season.

Got really sick last night, think it might have been food poisoning. Wow, I forgot what that's like. Don't think I've had a stomach thing for years and yuck! Was up from midnight to 6 a.m. getting sick on an hourly basis. Whew. Body is sore, but at least I'm upright now. Slept for the entire day, and am headed back to the bed now. Hoping I can work in the a.m.

10k

An impromptu 10k race this morning. Hope I don't regret it, not really in racing shape yet. Eh, we'll see what happens.

Finito

So, here's RB Trio completed. I like this one. "Going Green" still on the easel and two more started. Love how they're getting cranked out and not a house/building/restaurant to be seen in any of them. How refreshing.

Comes the Dawn

After awhile you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to understand that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head held high and your eyes wide open.
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
You learn to build your roads
On today because tomorrow's ground
Is too uncertain for plans, and futures have
A way of falling down in midflight.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine
Burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate
Your own soul, instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure,
That you really are strong.
And you really do have worth.

And you learn and learn...and you learn

With every goodbye you learn.

Random

Peaceful house tonight. Good to have Haley home. We're both looking forward to summer. Cape has had such a rough year and I think the kids have had their fill of it. My heart breaks when I think of the burdens that must be on their hearts and their minds. Summer will do everyone some good - assuming we don't have any more community tragedies.

Advice for the day- (not my invention.)

Take chances. Tell the truth. Date someone totally wrong for you. Say no. Spend all your cash! Fall in love. Get to know someone random. Be random. Say I love you. Sing out loud. Laugh at a stupid joke. Cry. Get revenge. Apologize. Tell someone how much they mean to you. Tell the asshole what you feel. Let someone know what theyre missing. Laugh til your stomach hurts. LIVE LIFE!

This is "Angel". An 8 x 10 oil. Complete. Kept it simple, just because.

In the moment

I love this Post Secret. It's one of those things that we all seem to struggle with. Many of us live in the past or are waiting for the future, instead of being present in the current moment. Maybe it's because the current moment can be so infinitely difficult, making the past or the future seem easier somehow.

Reruns again???

This time it goes out to Tikki Barber and our local football coach. (Yes, innocent till proven guilty, and if innocent, I'll happily take it back.)

wow.

Okay.

So, this is probably the closest I've ever gotten to buying something that could be seen on an infomercial. My lawn has tons of thatch and is really hard soil. Thought I'd try these stupid things and see if I can weed and feed after I use them. I'm already picturing looking like John Cleese as I walk over my front lawn. Fortunately I don't have many neighbors.

I wish

I wish it was possible to bottle this night. It's only April  and today got up to 89 degrees. Wow. Tonight it's probably in the 70's with a nice breeze, the sun setting, and Nick Drake on the Bose system. Oh, and a glass of wine too. It truly couldn't be any better. I don't even mind the sound of the traffic over there on route 24. Birds singing...oh, it's just so nice. Heavenly. I will enjoy every minute and sleep with my windows open. Looks like the temps will retreat by Thursday. Ah well, enjoy while it's here.

Mark Stock - "Languish"

I love this man's artwork. I have "The Butler's in Love" hanging in my bedroom and hope to add this one as a companion piece. The colors are so beautiful and warm and she looks so wonderfully pensive.

Feel good music

4/4

So, I guess the weather guy was right, but only depending on where you live. The forecast for this weekend, beginning on Friday was 70 + degrees, which caused extra traffic from out of state visitors. (Probably most were coming anyway because of Easter, but...) However, Friday was cold and Saturday was cold. When I talked to my friend in VA, it was 80-85 out there, and at that moment, my car thermometer read 47. I was wearing a winter coat. So tell me how does the weather dude get it that wrong? That's not just a few degrees, that's a season! But anyway, today it was finally warm. I felt kind of bad for all the people from VA and MD and DC who left all that warmth and got here in tank tops and sundresses and had to go buy sweatshirts from the crappy t-shirt shops on the boardwalk. That ocean will get ya every time.

A good weekend though. Some studio time, some yoga, some other good quality time. Dusty's home from school. Had an Easter egg hunt for Dust and Hale and Mel. The eggs had cash in them, which made for a very frantic hunt by all three. The potential for winning was $45, but some of the eggs just had chocolate. It was fun to watch them tear around the yard. I took some pics, and will post. Later. My "little brother" turned 40 today too. Wow.

Just had a monstrous dinner at my moms. I am so completely full that I feel like I could skip eating for 3 days. Uuuuuhhhh. Now, a peaceful house that smells and feels great for having the windows open all day Ahh. Happy Easter, this one has certainly been better than the last.
