Paintings in progress

I've been painting a lot lately, and my house is a wreck because of it. Yeesh. Anyway, here's some stuff in progress. The trawler painting is in need of a name. I have a tentative one picked out, but would welcome suggestions.

R.I.P. Andrew Wyeth

So sad, what a fantastic painter.

But can we get a cheer for the amazing skills of that US Air pilot "sully"? Not sure if that nickname is right, but WOW. That man....well, it just shows you how much years of experience can pay off. Awesome.

Winter hibernation and spring training

The one good thing about winter - and I'm only coming up with one - is that there's more "time" to get things done. I've been painting a lot, but also am working on getting my running speed back to where it was. Last year I really slacked off, cut down on my racing and basically plodded along for the most part. Enough of that. This year, my goal is to consistently back under 23:00 5k's, something I got away from last year. 1/2 marathon training begins February 1st and I'm working on an aggressive training program. What the hell...may as well make use of these winter months for productive things.

Unfortunately, I'm on the tail end of my age group - meaning I'm the "old" one. When August comes, I move up to the next (!!) age group, but I'll be on the "young" end. So, good and bad.

Stay warm. Take vitamin D. Pray for spring.

New Joisey

Haley and I have been in A.C. New Jersey all weekend. I'm looking out the hotel window at the Trump Plaza that has a big sign on the outside that says, "ARE YOU GETTIN' ANY?" Good Lord.

Anyway, this place is totally over priced. It's been built up a lot since the last time I was here - there were no outlet stores then, and now they're everywhere. It's a little nicer around the casino's now. I did gamble - for about 10 minutes - spent $20 so I could say I "did it". Unlike my parents, I don't really get the whole gambling appeal. I'd rather use the money for a nice dinner or a massage or something. Speaking of that, I did get a INCREDIBLY FABULOUS sports massage yesterday. Oh my God, I was so sore before and felt so good after.

Haley has been dancing full days, and she is very sore too. She apparently has been throwing her neck around and it's now really stiff. She got a little "mom massage" this morning. She puts a lot of energy into these things.

So, we'll be headed back home later this afternoon, ready to start another week. There's a couple of shows coming up, so painting is on the docket. Looking forward to getting home, back to reasonable prices and decent food (the food has been really bad here, with the exception of some good pizza last night).

More mini's

Here's the latest bunch of mini's. I'm falling behind on "production" so have been spending most of the day in the studio trying to get back on track after the holidays. As usual, the the photos aren't great - but they're passable. I do have a great camera, by the way, just dont' spend a lot of time learning how to use it as I should.

and this is a commission in progress.

Year End Review

Just in case you had trouble recalling every (wonderful?) thing that happened in 2008.
