February, et al.

Good things about February: Trip to ST. John scheduled for 8 days. (yay!)My mother's birthday. February is only 28 days.

Bad things about February: COLD. Snow, Valentine's Day (this can also be a good thing, depending on what's happening on a personal level), a birthday I'd rather not remember. March follows February, and April follows March. I'm looking forward to May - will end a year of grieving on many different levels.

So enough of that heavy stuff. The LHS Art show will be rescheduled. My guess is it will probably get rescheduled while I'm out of the country. If that happens, Nick Serratore will take care of hanging my artwork for me. My "boys" will be making their big debut without me. I have had so much fun working on these figures, just can't tell ya. I have a few more ready to start, and the "floating" black frames they're in work great. Looking forward to seeing what kind of reception they get. A huge departure for me.

Hope to post pics from St. John. I'll have email/internet access there, but probably won't use my cell much. It will be nice to feel warm.

Spring is coming.....?

Seriously? More snow coming TOMORROW? What the *X!!? You know, can you remember back to spring of this year...the amount of rain we had? I think it rained for like 20 days in June. Summer didn't really feel like it started til July. And the weather has pretty much sucked since then. Fall came early, so there weren't any late October beach days (thank you global warming) and then WINTER just barged right in and took everything over. Now it's totally showing off. I don't even have my driveway shoveled - which by now is probably all icy - and we have another major storm coming. Good googly-moogly. The poor kids are going to be going to school till the end of June.

Ok, yeah....it did really snow. A lot.

I think most of the people who read this blog are in my general area and know about the snow and it's magnitude, so I really don't have to expand on it. If you're not around Delmarva, HOLY SHIT did we get a lot of snow. Calling that storm a blizzard is not an exaggeration, it was very impressive. Very scary on the roads - went to a friend's house because my power was out and the house got very cold. Fortunately he had 4 wheel drive, but even with that, it was really iffy. Things became white-out conditions in the afternoon. We had the luck to get right behind a snow-plow, so we had a bit of an escort.

Now it's shovel-out time, and the shoveling is not fun. Very deep snow with ice underneath. I just watched, but it looked like really hard work. :)

Not sure if my house is still out of power. I imagine I'll get home eventually and will know then. More shoveling awaits there. The Art League is closed tomorrow, so a snow day! Can tackle organizing my basement and garage, and get some painting done. Nice.

No Post Secret pic today, his internet is down. LOL.

Fastest January ever.

It did go by quickly, and I have no idea why. I am not complaining.

I am, however, complaining about my taxes. They're time consuming and so far it doesn't look like a refund is coming either. Bummer! I'll get plugging away.

Looking out the window for the forecasted snow and wondering if we'll be snowed under again in the morning. Not a bad thing if school and work are called off. I can get some painting done.

Doing some thinking (gee, what a surprise, the over-thinker is thinking again) tonight. But it's more like just noticing the thoughts swirling around my head. Some good, some okay - none terrible. That niggling sense of hope prevails, which is really intriguing. Have no idea where it's coming from or what's causing it.

Hanging work at Milford Memorial Hospital tomorrow after work. Still getting paintings ready for the LHS show as well. Chugging right along.

Signs of spring???

Amazingly enough, in all this snow, there are signs of spring.

Yesterday I saw purple martins scouting out the newspaper openings under mailboxes...they like to build nests there. And today, outside the Art League, birds were singing. They know spring is coming, and they're probably working on their pre-mating rituals. Little signs of hope...even with more snow in the forecast.
